Notes & Combos

After testing a few different variations of the Predaplant build, this version feels like it plays a little better overall. I made some changes, including swapping Dominus Impulse for Droll & Lock Bird and adding One for One, and the deck feels more consistent and comfortable to play as a result.

Dominus Impulse was useful in some situations, but most of the time it ended up negating my Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon and leaving it negated for the rest of the duel. Because of this, Droll & Lock Bird feels like a better fit, especially against decks that rely heavily on searching and adding cards. One for One also gives the deck another way to access important combo pieces and helps improve consistency.

The deck still has a lot of flexibility, so the ideal build can change depending on the meta. Cards like Forbidden Crown and Dominus Spark are still possible tech choices, while new support like Fata Dragna has added new combo routes and more options for building stronger end boards.

For now, after trying a few different variations, this version feels like a better balance between consistency, disruption, and adapting to the current ladder. I’ll keep making small adjustments depending on how the meta changes and how the deck performs.

  • Open your combo by Synchro climbing to play around hand traps, protecting Ambulomelides from Ash Blossom and Ghost Belle.

  • With the release of Fata Dragna, you can now target Clear Wing Synchro Dragon and fuse it into Starving Venom Wing Dragon, giving the deck an additional line of play and floodgate your opponent.

  • I swapped Predaplant Chimerafflesia for Albion the Branded Dragon, which fits the deck better. Fata Dragna can summon Albion from the Extra Deck, letting you set The Fallen & the Virtuous for an extra disruption. Chimerafflesia is still an option if you want Super Polymerization for your next turn or don't have enough Gems for the Branded engine.

The deck can be completely stopped by well-timed interruptions, especially Droll & Lock Bird and Dimension Shifter, since many of its combo lines rely on searching and sending cards to the Graveyard. Dimension Shifter is especially problematic as it prevents cards from reaching the Graveyard. However, Predaplant still has some comeback potential and can often play through Turn 2 with its Fusion tools and Super Polymerization.
