Notes & Combos

Droll is a miserable card.

After dooming and reading RS and B2B level floodgates for the first time, I fearmongered myself into looking for a new deck (was planning to go K9 Azamina or K9 Shining Sarc). I figured since my gems were capped anyway, let's see what a 10-pull gets me; 1 Cue, 1 Reco and 1 Synchro. The following pulls were just as good and got the whole deck going with 5K gems.

Over the month it became rather apparent that the deck really is not as "tier 0 untouchable any other deck is DEAD" as it seemed. Every game felt like you were either unstoppable or did nothing, very little inbetween. I can kinda see why they introduced it completely un-hit (ignoring Synchro Overtake). Ironically this deck gets like soloed by Plan L of all things.

Rambling aside, the deck is... fun I guess? Maybe I'm just not a good pilot with it but I feel like I've had my fill already. Please just un-hit Prayers.

Deck Talk

I went with all HTs because I feel like the hyper consistency is what makes the deck enjoyable. No Psy-frames, you don't open them enough in the correct situation to my liking, not to mention the hard brick.

No idea if the breaker version is objectively better or not, didn't feel like it was much of a difference.

Every ED monster feels both "insane" and "didn't ever come up", in hindsight you could go down to 0 Crackle, 1 RS and 1 Remix, only ran the multiples because I guess Clip is a common card in this format.

  • 2 Clip instead of 3, it's nice to search with Trackmaker and go into Loudness with it, but otherwise not fantastic on its own.
  • 2 Fuwa, tends not to give too many draws with KT being the most popular deck, but still fairly mandatory in BO1.
  • 1 Ogre, 1 Mourner - didn't have multiples of either so just ran as diverse OPT interactions and Crossout targets in a pinch.
  • 2 Overtake, 1 Genesis - also to diversify OPT effects, Overtake tends to activate Droll regardless.
  • Crossout, Called by - Droll hate.
  • TTT is best card in the deck - KT adores 2 draws, but you don't want to banish any KT name more than 1 max, so Desires is too risky. Rotary also lets you scout the hand to see if it's worth TTT ripping.
  • 3 Trackmaker and 2 B2B are the only mandatory multiples, in my opinion.
  • Chaos Angel for walling purposes on T1 B2B endboard.
  • Plan L handles KT quite nicely, S:P is just for random nonsense desperation plays (outting Contact "C" for example).

Replays

ID: 927-064-824

Only 2 KT replays, 1 playing through Rosewhip and Contact "C", other a B2B combo in the face of Shifter. Not that many uniquely tight games this climb - usefulness is as always, up to your own judgment.

You can DM me on (MDM) Discord @oka if you have questions or want to chat about the deck (or talk to me about Mitsurugi K9).
