Notes & Combos

Basically just an adaptation of my old fusion festival Cyberdark deck I didn't get to submit due to procrastination, woopsies. Won't do that this time. The main difference was just swapping which board breakers & handtraps were legal. Feel free to cook what flavors you prefer: e.g. Mourner is legal if you're a handtrap afficianado but I prefer a 50/50ish split of monsters:spell/traps so Chimera is more likely to be online.

I'm running a smaller monster engine than some of the lists I've seen and faced. I don't think the deck's grind game and card economy are good enough to warrant trying for plays over multiple turns so I'd rather load up on more board breakers and hand traps to hopefully get things done on the first time.

The irony here is that I've faced multiple mirror matches in the festival already and won them by winning the cointoss and playing the grind game better. Letting them commit to Cyberdark End Dragon and turning it into a Chimeratech Fortress Dragon for 2k beater beatdown is basically enough without me needing to commit anything. And I often didn't so they can't return the favor. If I keep running into mirror matches, squeezing in a second one might be justified.

I'm running Ultimate Slayer over something like Dark Hole because I ran into a fair amount of floating annoyances and/or destruction protection during pre-festival rooms and I appreciate the bonus effects like Skull Wagon's S/T pop or Ferrijit's hand fixing (she also saved me from an Ojama token lock🤣). It also aligns nicely with my smaller engine commitments. I don't think there's anything relevant for XYZ, so I'm using Allomerus because royal rare and I like Traptrix.

Qliphort Genius is so I can get Chimera into grave for its grave effect when my other normal summon is also a Cyberdark. I've seen other decks use Anger Knuckle to fetch Cyberdarkness but since it's permanently negated I'm not really sure what that accomplishes outside of forcibly sending equips to the GY. I'm happy with Qli and its gimmicky potential of eating a negate going second.

Cyber Eternal is my fun-of concession for if the match goes longer. Feel free to switch for something more useful. Same for Cyberdark Invasion, though I think it's much closer to being justified since it's nice to have an additional search target when you've drawn more of the spells+searchers than are necessary for the main combo and it offers some amount of interaction on the opponent's turn.
