Notes & Combos
I pulled the Orcust and Mitsurugi cards when they first dropped in the shop, but never really used them. This was my first time actually trying the deck and I'll be honest it was pretty intimidating but by the time I was Dv17 I started to really get the hang of it. I picked it because it’s not just good at breaking boards going second, but also really good at making multiple pushes through disruption. Its turn one power already speak for themselves.
Mitsurugi has easy board wipes with Murakumo basically acting like a Raigeki, and Shining Sarc does something similar with Gandaro-G, giving you both destruction and banish. Fiendsmith also is great at eating disruptions and I usually start with that. I'm 50/50 on the dark magician engine only because if I summon Dragoon and also have to go the knightmare combo route I barely have any cards in hand to use.
I took out hand traps like Veiler, Imperm, and Belle because they didn't feel good drawing by themselves since most decks can play thru one interruption. so I decided to keep my hand traps to the ones that would substantially help me going second.
Radiant Typhoon is one of the biggest issues for this deck so I ended up trying to make sure I have Dingirsu on my end board as much as possible.
Like most decks maxx c and fuwa are problems but this deck can self droll which did come up a lot. Also under fuwa I was able to just do some mitsurugi stuff and end on Murakumo and prayers.
For the future I think I will add Aramasa so that drawing Saji doesn't hurt as much. Also I think I'm going to add pre-prep because I wasn't seeing the mitsurugi engine as much as I would like. I have 3 impulse crafted but I valued the fiendsmith more than having that extra hand trap. If Impulse is something I want to use I might switch out the fiendsmith and add some Azamina cards because it also has synergy with Mitsurugi since I can tribute from hand and also has synergy with orcust because I could get an orcust name from hand to grave.
Overall very fun experience and very happy with the deck.
