Notes & Combos
Tl;dr: Crystron good
This is an alternative (non-K9) Crystron variant I tried for this lower powered format. I liked the Crystron gameplay more, so I chose to try out the Shining Sarc engine (instead of K9) which has some synergies with Crystron (namely the discard with DMG, and TVZ to access the Crystron engine).
If you played Crystron with Millennium or Horus: it is played similarly.
It took me ~32 victories to reach Dlv. Max from Dlv. 12 and I did it with a coin flip ratio of 17:31 (yes, I started counting in the first session where it was 5:18). I mention this to show that this deck is not completely helpless going second. But I also got pretty lucky with my opponents during this climb.
I had to cut down on some non-engine to keep the number of starters high in relation. DMG and Future Silence (which you can activate in the Draw Phase to play around Droll) all can go into TVZ and, thus, are starters.
This deck includes 3 Tristaros because it is a good and threatening normal summon. Also, you can pivot into Baronne with DMoD and it, which can catch some opponents off guard. You can cut 1 Sulfador which I didn't because I thought it could tribute DMoD (never came up though).
This deck can play Dominus Impulse which is big. The only repercussion is that you can't use about half of your ED. But this is fine because you play Cluster Control with Quariongandrax instead then. Also, you aren't cut off from the Shining Sarc engine which includes a boardbreaker with Gandora-G and which has some really good pushes against some boards.
I never used Satellite Warrior so this card could be changed into e.g. Spright Elf which can be summoned with one of the tuners for some extra ceiling (e.g. target protect Infinity).
Additional sources:
- The decklists which inspired me: look for it in YGO meta under Top Decks. You can find it when you look for the Crystron decks of the last 6 months in the OCG (sadly, YGO meta links result in "invalid link", so I hope this gives you directions).
- Why the Shining Sarc engine can be used in Crystron, which gave me a direction how this deck would work (Shoutout to TheShapestofSnatchest): https://youtu.be/WEYjA7oOJbc?si=aKjIHSBcx10b248z&t=482
- The GOAT DLF2P with the great Crystron guide in MDM, also with the commentary on Dominus Impulse: https://youtu.be/NnhpCysJxJQ?si=4mq9hUkalVOvycUa&t=221
Please don't ask me why I wrote a whole thesis on my favorite deck in the last few formats, thanks!
