Notes & Combos

First time I'm playing Swordsoul outside of a synchro event and never realized how many ways the deck can play out of a sticky situation. It's crazy how I winged a lot of lines with the Tenyi links and Circle, and they just work out.

The deck list is fairly standard, but I'll try to explain my thoughts and some of my less common decisions:

  • Adhara - I thought about running more than 1, but I just couldn't find space for it. It also isn't as good as the other Tenyis, so I couldn't justify adjusting the numbers. The main use for Adhara for me was to unbrick opening with Taia.
  • Ashuna - I've seen some lists run only 2, but I can't imagine running fewer than 3. This card is just so good for making unplayable hands playable. It's especially good with Taia and Circle.
  • Nibiru - This card was bonkers. It was originally a Crossout target, but since no one respects Nib for some reason, it pops off hard against decks that spam summons like Mathmech.
  • Protos - Everyone knows this card is toxic, but since it was always banned in the events, this was the first time I used it. It got me some undeserved wins against Labrynth, Dragon Link, and Branded. I also bullied multiple Traptrix players.
  • TT Talent - I wish I could have fit another and really thought about going over 40 just for it. This was the best non-engine card. The hand knowledge + spin and the steal are just too good. It really speaks when Pot of Greed is the least desirable effect of the three.
  • Zeus - This was solely for TTT, and it came up multiple times. A board wipe before committing to the board is pretty nice.
  • PEP - I went into it twice, but both times, I would not have been able to win without it. One was ironically an OTK against Mikanko where I got Nibbed, and they left me with 1000 LP, only to get PEPed in the face the following turn. The other was against Skill Drain Lab after we both ran out of resources because 3500 > 2900.

Overall, I loved playing the deck. 9/10, would play again in a future event and maybe ranked.
