History time!

Dragon Ruler was a broken deck that won Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2013. The only thing keeping it from being Tier 0 was Spellbook, the only real counter at the time (thanks to Judgment and Jowgen). Dragon Ruler, on the other hand, could break through it with Blaster’s discard effect and insane draw power from Super Rejuvenation.

After that, Konami hit the deck hard: babies banned, Super Rejuvenation banned, adults limited. But the deck lived on through variants like Hieratic Ruler, Mythic Ruler, Dragunity Ruler, and Lightsworn Ruler—until March 2014, when the adults got banned and the era ended.

Starting 2019, the adults slowly got unbanned—Tempest first, then the others one by one. By December 2024, all were free. But without real support, the deck couldn’t keep up with modern meta. Only engines like Armed Dragon Thunder and Rose Dragon gave it some gas, but not enough to make strong boards.

Finally, in May 2025, the deck received powerful support from Alliance Insight: Chasma (Light), Eclipse (Dark), and Disaster Dragon Ruler—the new boss monster that can banish the opponent’s field and graveyard based on its material’s attribute.

With these, Dragon Ruler is fun and playable again. I’m just happy I can play this legendary deck once more—both on paper and in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel.

Replays

In this replay section, i will tell you about the board you need to focus to make.

Chasma + Eclipse.

Chasma copies Dragon Ruler discard effects by sending the same card from deck, giving you strong disruption (Blaster), search (Tempest), mill (Tidal), or revive (Redox). And Eclipse handles spell/trap negation.

Survive one turn, and OTK is easy using—Disaster Dragon Ruler can banish the opponent’s board if all rulers are at the material and swing for 4600 ATK, unaffected by other effects.
