Notes & Combos

A variation on combo Ghoti. I tried turn 0 Ghoti for a while and kind of got sick of how little it ended up accomplishing. Ghoti is a deck that is very dependent on your opening hand to accomplish things and if you didn't open the right combo in the turn 0 variant you were kind of dead in the water (pun intended).

This variant isn't nearly as explosive as the Coelacanth version, but I think it strikes a good balance between effective non-engine and being able to do something through a few disruptions typically. The only things that I'd really change around are removing fish and bids for another combo piece, potentially replacing fuwa with purulia for some more combo potential, and changing imperm to veiler if you roll a monster on field (imperm is significantly more useful otherwise).

As for the new cards: didn't care for toxic boxfish or fish and bids that much. If we get more fish synchros I think fish and bids will be better, but in this deck specifically it really hinders you from being able to make turn 1 disruptions like dragite or baronne. Aspischool however, is amazing. Having a fish that comes back immediately after being banished is exactly what the deck needed and opens up a lot more combo avenues.

Overall very fun deck. Doesn't stand up to the powerhouses this event like White Forest or full combo Live Twin/Rokket, but it can hold its own and have a win rate above 60%.

If you're curious about the combos, they change with basically every opening hand. Generally though you want to start with Sardine into Snopios, Snopios banish Psiics into either extension or a Ghoti you can synchro with next turn. Leverage your links to get tuners on board to go into a turn 1 interuption and then use your ghotis on your opponents turn to disrupt.
