Notes & Combos

New season, new rank, more fun games to be had.

The only changes I did this season as opposed to my D1 list from last season are:

  • -1 Dio
  • -1 Sera
  • +1 Strike
  • +1 Utopia Prime

I removed Dio, as I didn't want to keep opening as many monsters in my hands (albeit.. it also sucks if you don't open any, however, at least if you have "too many" traps, they might buy you a turn, as opposed to like 2-3 Traptrix names). The extra Sera was removed, as it made more sense to add in another more useful card, as the 3rd Sera was really just a PoP target [although.. Raff still fully is as I never summon her..., but she is at least a unique card that can maybe help out at some point]

As for adding in another Strike. I missed having it and as Spright did really well in the recent WCQ, having another card that interacts favorably against the deck, as well as others was nice. I added Utopia Prime to fall more in line with what we can see the Japanese players doing. Plus, a 4 mat Lightning is pretty nice. Alternatively, you can go into a 4 mat ZEUS with it as well if that is better for the situation.

Otherwise, same old, same old right now. As the banlist has not taken place, the decks are the same as last season still.

Nothing super great, as it's hard to get a back and forth with the current format. Usually you open anti-Tear tech and win, lose since you couldn't stop them from going into ZEUS, or didn't open anti-Tear tech/handtraps to do anything while they setup.

  • One game versus stun that I nearly lost. (I went second)
  • Another vs Tear where we both semi bricked. (I went second)
  • The last was a game against Floo where I wasn't drawing monsters. (I went first)
