Ancient Warriors

Overview

This is a blind 2nd build with a focus on maximising the new Continuous Spell {Ancient Warriors Saga - Deception and Betrayal} by running 3 of the much ignored {Ancient Warriors - Graceful Zhou Gong} and a suite of strong Continuous Spells.

Build Philosophy

Some card choices here are more uncoventional, so I will try to justify them:

Many older style AW decks will stock up on Liu Xian and Guan Yun, however their powerful effects are often offline, or lock you into activating them early to avoid matching the quantity of monsters on your opponent's field. With Zhou Gong at 3 instead, early explosiveness is traded out for reliability, since any Continuous spell represents an extra summon from hand via {Ancient Warriors Saga - Deception and Betrayal} , or if a free summon exists by opening Zhou Gong with Tensu, Lu Feng, or D&B, then an extra search via {Ancient Warriors Saga - Three Visits} . The core engine now works more fluidly by cycling through the Continuous Spell suite.

{Fire Formation - Tensu} and {Swords of Concealing Light} act as superior going 2nd tools as they stick around as much needed fodder for sending with your Level 4 combo starters. Tensu opens up a less linear gameplan, giving more value from the multiple starter monsters to play through interruption. Swords outs many boards similarly to {Book of Eclipse} but stays on field, and as a bonus, keeps the "outnumbered" effects of the Shu (Wind) monsters online to destroy them, or be bounced with Sun Mou to circumvent floating/GY effects.

Other continuous spells to consider include {Dimensional Fissure} since it barely affects the deck while countering Tearlaments well, but I tend to stick with Swords since it is effective in a broader range of matchups, and can still stunt Tearlaments. Play around with it depending on what you encounter most in ranked.

Extra Deck

The Extra Deck is a {Pot of Extravagance} board with some tech choices. Not too much to say, if you want a budget/staple friendly version then 1 DDL is usually enough so drop Extravagance for perhaps {Pot of Desires}, {Cup of Ace} (if you are a chad) or solid staples like {Infinite Impermanence} or {Called by the Grave}, or the aformentioned {Dimensional Fissure} .
