Notes & Combos
This climb was something..
At first, I was having issues in D5 and D4 and even deranked back to D5 once. Getting back to D4 the second time took me about 50~ games [D5 -> D4 -> D5 -> D4]
During this time, I think I had too many techs for Tear, so when I faced other decks, I wouldn't have enough since I'd have some dead cards like Fissure/Shifter/Barrier/etc depending on what I faced.
Once I got into D4 a second time though, I had a much more steady rate of Tear decks to face and just had to get lucky and go first and open anti-Tear cards, open Shifter, or have an Imperm/Ash stop their turn.
From that point on though, I did try out Evenly Matched in place of my Fissures.. but those also lost me some games/didn't do enough when I saw them. Once I removed the Evenlys, I was swapping back and forth between running 2 Fissures or 2 Strikes depending on what I was seeing more of that day.
As for the ED:
- I never really went into Raff after I removed most extenders
- I went into Abyss Dweller only a few times when I was able to survive a turn or 2 and lock things down from there.
- Utopia was there to deal with Avramaxx if it ever came up in Spright match-ups [also to rarely beat over a powered up Tear with the field spell and Scream on the field]
- 3 Sera were just thrown in. Only used 2 really.
Soul Drain
- When it works, it's great. It doesn't stop your plays at all and helps against Tears/Floo/Eldlich/and other decks.. but it's dead against a good amount as well like Exosister/Spright/etc
Desires
- I figured if it's do or die to get an anti-Tear deck, if I can draw 2, it could save me. I liked it enough [besides when I opened 2 or banished 6 Traptrix names]
Judgment
- Our only defense against Evenly.. which is everywhere. It's not super great against Tear.. but it's an answer to if they go into Bagooska/ZEUS/Redoer potentially or just to stop generic things like TTT
Bottomless
- I really only used this a handful of times. Most of the time, it was the last hole I took / I didn't use it. Just not a fan of multiple Gravedigger's since I usually never want to open it and Floodgate doesn't do a ton either. You can replace this if you want or keep it for maybe banishing a Tear name/Marth/etc.
Dio/Mantis
- With all the shufflers, whenever I opened Mantis, I just grabbed another Mantis and rarely went into Sera right away. I love Dio.. but it's really hard to get her to work. The shufflers/Crow and even Vadis can just burn you while you get nothing.
