Notes & Combos

I'm already in Diamond 1 thanks to my Branded Despia deck, but I decided to test out my lab deck. I quickly got a 9 game winstreak in Diamond 1. I only played 3 games against Ishizu Tear, including a game where I went 2nd and just set 4 passed, and this deck won those games pretty well. Also I chained D Shifter to an adamancipator using grass and they just scooped lol.

I based my deck from last format on one used by the YouTuber g07h4xf00, but I've been trying to make my own adjustments for the new Tear format.

The extra deck is mostly optional, only thing I really used was N'tss for the dogmatica punishment pop. Otherwise I recommend at least high attack monsters if you want to go with budget options.

The deck has 7 static floodgates (continuous spell/trap) and plus 4 more "lingering" floodgates (only used once but can't be popped) for 11 total. This feels like it might be too many, I want to find a way to cut the total floodgates down to like 8 but I'm not sure which to cut, all of them are really powerful right now. D Shifter is the best handtrap in the game and it doesn't really hurt us, D barrier can be searched off trap trick and can also act as a one turn skill drain if you're going 2nd and trying to break a board. Gozen and Rivalry feel like the weakest but they also act as board breakers when going 2nd so I don't know if I would cut them. Soul Drain is great going 1st but going 2nd you still need something else to help clear their board.

Necrovalley is great but I'm honestly considering cutting it, it ends up hurting my Lab engine (both welcome recovering from the grave and lovely recurring removal traps) and does most of the same stuff that soul drain does. I could see myself cutting terraforming, metaverse and necrovalley for some more removal traps like compulse or terrors of the overroot, but I'm undecided. The big advantage it has over soul drain is it negates instead of preventing from activating and you can play it on your own turn instead of waiting for your opponent... I don't know I'm not sure.

Finally when it comes to needle ceiling, I could also be convinced to change this out for one shot removal traps like compulse or terrors instead. It did amazing work in my Eldlich deck because Sprite constantly puts up at least 3 monsters (one of your own monsters ends up being the 4th) and Eldlich monsters/traps love being destroyed... but I didn't really want to use it as much in Lab, especially under necrovalley.
