Notes & Combos
I'm already in Diamond 1 thanks to my Branded Despia deck a week before Tear released, but I'm trying out my lab deck. I based my deck on one used by the YouTuber g07h4xf00 in his latest video, a lot of improvments over my previous Tear deck. I got a 6 game winstreak in Diamond 1 with this version of the deck. However, I also made a few changes from his deck.
First, instead of dogmatica punishment I'm running Terrors of the Overroot. I know, this is Lab blasphamy, not running punishment are you crazy? But here me out: our most important floodgates (soul drain and d fissure) make punishment either a 1 pop or unable to work at all. It was punishment or the floodgates, and I chose the floodgates. Terrors still gets off one removal, but it also allows you to take out their field spell or backrow if you're desperate. Otherwise backrow removal comes from either Lovely or our field spell. 2nd change I made was running pot of prosp in place of one extrav, just because we REALLY need to see our floodgates or sphere mode sometimes. Also funny interaction, because they can't respond to your traps while lovely is on the field, you can use terrors to grab a shuffler or something from their grave and put it face down on the field. Neat little interaction right? I could be convinced to run ice dragon instead of terrors here but I just feel like terrors being able to remove backrow in a pinch gives it the extra push it needs.
I was trying out evenly instead of sphere mode, it definately works but sphere mode just feels better, they can't chain time thief and if you get rid of their tear bodies the counter trap doesn't work anyways.
If you still want to run punishment I would switch out the d fissure for d shifter or different dimension ground. I just like that fissure forces the issue and feels good to top deck.
Finally, triple compulse because you don't want to send their monsters to grave anyways and it's not once per turn. Lovely and Welcome mean you get extra value out of it.
I'm really glad their field spell is at 1, it's really hard to win if that thing stays on the field for more than a few turns. Also always be ready for the Zeus play, save at least one interruption for it they always seems to have a way to get an xyz on the field. Finally, gozen feels like the weakest of the floodgates, I could be convinced to switch it out for something else, but at the same time is usually removes at least a third of their board. Idk.
Good luck out there duelists!
