Notes & Combos

Pretty standard list, with a few twists. I didn't feel like grinding the event for too long, so I finished Stage 2 with a 15-2 win/loss ratio (14,2k points), including a 9-game winning streak at the end. Mostly played against Tearlaments. I included Book of Eclipse to deal with annoying boards that don't mind being destroyed by cards like Lightning Storm or Raigeki (Tearlaments). Eclipse is amazing in this deck overall because you banish most of their stuff that gets flipped so they don't even get to draw cards at the end of the turn. You can also use it to dodge any targetting effect on your XYZ monsters. Against Tearlaments specifically, Eclipse shuts down all their plays (including Sulliek since it requires a face-up Tearlaments monster), except the counter trap. Eclipse and Asophiel were MVPs against Tearlaments. Change of Heart can be useful in certain matchups (I did prosperity it once, but it only served as bait for a negate - I ended up misplaying and activating it in Imperm column so it didn't even resolve; luckily, I won the game despite), but I'm not sure about that one to be honest. Maybe Red Reboot would be better as a one of, or maybe even a 3rd Eclipse. I was testing Dark Ruler No More instead of Eclipse in Stage 1 and it turned out to be pretty bad cause of Sulliek. I know I didn't play too many games, but I feel like this was the best deck for Stage 2 cause people tend to misplay a lot against it. Everyone was obsessing with countering Tearlaments and, later, Spright. I also liked the fact that the deck could play through Maxx C rather well.
