Notes & Combos

Hello, I built this version of Archfiends. It's very fun, but it's more complicated than you might expect. Even though I run a lot of Branded cards, all of them are here to bridge into the Archfiend cards. Nadir Servant and White Albaz are by far your best starters, and they're also decent going second.

Sadly, the Archfiend cards have a lot of restrictions, so there isn't much you can do with them. Speaking of restrictions, you need to be aware that many of the cards have very heavy restrictions; most of them lock you into a specific type of Extra Deck summon. Because of that, you need to plan ahead and think carefully about what you can do during your turn and how you sequence your plays before getting locked into something.

As I mentioned, since you're locked into something most of the time, I don't run Regenesis in this version because you need to summon Archfiend Emperor to the EMZ.

Cards that you can replace:

"Throne of Archfiends" is dead in your hand most of the time. "Duke Archfiend" is another Normal Summon that can occasionally help, but cards like "Evenly Matched" or "Illusion Gate" might be better. "Sea Monster of Theseus" never came up a single time. I would replace it with "Starving Venom Fusion Dragon" or "Predaplant Dragostapelia".

Maliss and Pure Branded are very difficult matchups. Pure Branded can outgrind you very easily, and Maliss doesn't care if its monsters get banished.

Pure Archfiends lose very hard to a single Ash Blossom or Infinite Impermanence, and the deck is also very bad at going second.

At first, I was playing "Archfiend Matador" with 3 copies of "Pre-Preparation of Rites". It can be okay for baiting interruptions; however, it bricks more often than it helps, since you need to perform a Ritual Summon and commit to a four-card combo that still loses to Ash Blossom, Effect Veiler, or Infinite Impermanence.
