Notes & Combos
Dracotail is one of my favorite decks of all time and despite several banlist hits, it seems to be still really good. So I played a few ranked duels with it and got crazy results: ~72% winrate despite losing the cointoss 2/3 of the times and I climbed to 1580 in just 2 hours.
Main Deck
Probably the most standard main deck you can find. Nothing extraordinary, except that I am playing all 3 traps. I've seen many Branded DT lists playing only 2 traps, but I like 3 because in MD you have the Maxx C in addition to the 3 Fuwa that everyone is maining and being able to setup all 3 DT Traps with just 1 Special Summon under Maxx/Fuwa is one of the biggest strenghts of the Dracotail engine.
Whilst testing, I tried to cut other cards that I considered a brick, such as Quem and I also tried to play without High Sprits completely, instead I played more copies of Ecclesia and Cartesia. Having more copies of them and more add backs during the End Phase can be nice, but rarely made a decisive difference. On the other hand, High Spirits baitet handtraps from the opponent and that made a huge difference often, also Quem turned out to be not as bad as I thought, especially in combation with Arthalion which can add back a foolished Walbaz from the GY.
After a decent amount of games I have to agree that playing High Spirits and Quem is correct.
The non-engine is also pretty standard, just the best handtraps in the current format, except for Veiler, which might not be the best handtrap, but it's good enough and a Spellcaster which matters for High Spirits. I am only on 2 F&V, because you can access this card really easy and in general, monster handtraps have a better synergy with this deck than spell/trap boardbreakers.
Extra Deck
Completely standard, except that I am not playing Alba-Lenatus. I think this card is useless and never came up for me. On the other hand, I got hit with Alba-Lenatus from my opponent in a couple of games and the opponent still lost. Some people Cut Gulamel and I don't know why, Gulamel for popping spells and traps comes up so often for me in matchups like the Mirror Match, Elfnote, Sky Stiker or Clowns.
During this season, this list performed extremly well in Rating Duels, but maybe I'll make some changes in the future, who knows.
