Notes & Combos

With Nadir going to 3 this season, I figured I'd try to make a monster heavier (or at least a lower trap count for my standards) build to see how things would go.

Overall, it didn't feel the worst, but Maxx C feels that much more painful as expected. Near the end of the climb, it felt like 50~% of opponents just opened Maxx C and hit me with it either when I went first or second, so that's always fun.

Originally, I had 2 Belle in the deck for things like Mathmech/Lab/Dlink + Branded to lesser extents, but removed them for 2 Droll once Purrely came out. They felt ok, however, it is kind of hard to always tell if it mattered against certain decks.

I also had 2 CEDs in the deck prior to my last 6~ games and figured I'd just through in IDP since Lab was being such a pain. It worked better than CED would have, however, still didn't win me one of the Lab games I had. (bricked and they hit me with Maxx C + Ash + Veiler on my turn when it was do or die after I hit their Extrav with my own Ash)

Ecclesia is at 2, so that Nadir is live more often and if something gets banished thanks to Kash/Runick, I'm not dead in the water. I was a bit riskier prior format with Nadir being at 2 though.

Nib felt really good to me, however, I didn't draw it against Lab nor did I really face Purrely, so that might have something to do with it.

Regarding the ED, I never used Omega. It was just an extra target for Nadir to maybe do some work by putting back Big Welcome or something, but never came up. It also probably helps that I wasn't playing Prosperity, so I never ravaged my ED for 6 cards.

I think Cularia and Atypus maybe came up once or twice as well. I definitely went into Raff more often than not with this build just so I could have more interactions on my opponent's turn given the lower trap count. Sure, Redoer could have done stuff as well, but Floodgate on certain things is really good.

Would I recommend playing this build for easy wins right now. Definitely not. It can be nice and enjoyable, but you can still easily die. As for what to change, I'm not really certain. I've seen that Kurikara has been putting in work for some, but having Nib as another "trap" was usually pretty nice and I can out the token easily enough normally with Nadir or CED when I had it in the deck. Special Pudica is also a very easy out for it, although, it does give them a banish back still if they have any.

Only saved 1 game. I probably should have gotten more, but.. I do hate how few save slots we have still lol

  1. 10 turn game in Diamond 3 against Purrely. [I really just saved it since it was a really dumb game that I have no clue how I still won fully]
