Notes & Combos
Bring in the spice, we're burning the kitchen with this one
So, here is the full course meal I've cooked up this season. Despite their clunkiness, I've always liked the Nouvelles cards, and with the new support coming to Master Duel, alongside the Mitsurugi cards (which have a decent amount of synergy), why not put my royal finish copy of the Restaurant to good use? Chef de Nouvelles is an amazing piece of support (one could even say it brings a lot to the table! ba dum tss), and it's worth noting that he is a LIGHT Fiend, so you already know what that means.
To be fair, I was a bit hesitant to call this pile of bricks a Nouvelles deck - Mitsurugi and Fiendsmith do a lot of the heavy lifting - but it's probably the only time I can claim I reached Master with the Burger so why not. I started with a 60-card build, but eventually cut down on some of the least impactful and win-more cards.
The amount of bricks means sometimes you'll lose to yourself, but it is still somewhat acceptable since you have so many 1-card and 2-card combos. It all comes together very nicely. Chef's kiss
Diviner is probably the best one, since it gets you into all 3 engines by itself:
- Normal summon Diviner, send Arc Light, search Habakiri.
- Activate Habakiri, summon Saji, tribute Diviner.
- Saji search Mitsurugi Ritual, Diviner summon Poissoniere to get the Recipe Book and later get Chef, or alternatively summon Nightshade to get two bodies on the field.
- Do the regular Mitsurugi stuff, with the extra bodies on the field go Fiendsmith combo for Caesar or Desirae and potentially A Bao A Qu as well. If needed, Lacrima (the fusion) can add Engraver from GY, which searches Tract, which can get the Chef (this is how Habakiri alone can also bridge into Nouvelles).
This build is super fun to play, has a lot of flavor (get it? haha... ok I'll stop) and it will leave your opponent wondering what's coming next, which makes it possible to break some boards using engine only.
Cockroaches should not be allowed in the kitchen, as this deck suffers heavilly against Maxx C (best you can do is scale Chef, grab Balameuniere or Baelgrill and hope your opponent plays into it). Droll also hurts, but at least you can still go for the Fiendsmith combo a lot of the time.
Hope you enjoy the deck, if you have any questions let me know!
