Notes & Combos
The only changes so far this season were:
- Swapped out an Overroot for IDP, as Tear is starting to come up more often (at least when I made the change) and I wasn't sure which one I wanted to stick with as both are really nice. Overroot for taking out random things such as field spells/having a trap you can use whenever and IDP for extra removal/extension/being able to be used whenever as well.
- Swapped out Asophiel for S:P. Asophiel is still solid, as she enables OTKs a bit better (clearing problem cards off the field AND being able to attack directly for the turn), however, S:P is just generically "better" and is a potential endboard piece. Depending on your opinions, you could probably take out another card like Cularia/Aussa/Goddess.
As for current meta decks. It's still really miserable.
- Tear has new toys in the way of Horus to play with
- Horus by itself can be a pain with all the free specials (I haven't fought against a pure deck or any deck that has gotten to King's Sarc to go nuts, but I can just imagine it not being fun. Also, why does it have non-targetting destruction protection? lol)
- Salad has some new cards and boy.. do you have to open a power handtrap like Maxx C/Shifter/Nib to try to stop the shenanigans or else you'll have to make it through Princess + Roar + Raging Phoenix + Code of Soul allowing them to make Pyro Phoenix on your turn to pop all your cards..
- Rescue-ACE is still Rescue-ACE. Stop Turbulence or good luck even trying to play without really good extenders. (ignoring the existence of S:P now)
- Snake-Eye is still Snake-Eye and they are still using Kash. (ignoring the existence of S:P now)
As to why I am not playing Shifter at the moment... it just always felt awful to use. When I'd open it, my opponent would chain Maxx C and I'd have to hope I didn't have Maxx C/too many names/get hit by a handtrap to try to set a board up. When I'd go second and open it, it felt like I normally opened it against decks that didn't care about it. lol
If I feel like I hit a wall, I might try adding Shifter back. Not sure if I'll swap to Mourner over Veiler though.
