Notes & Combos

After playing Orcust for the DC, I decided to play a deck I've been cooking for a while now for ladder.

Yummy and Radiant don't have too many synergies, but they do work together.

Basically the Radiants are really good combo starters for Yummy. Any one (except the trap) goes for full Yummy combo and gets a free MST in the process. They add consistency, ceiling and diversified interruption to the deck.

In order for that to work however, we do have to play the Junk cards. While Junk Meister is a decent normal summon starter (since he is still full combo with Almiraj), Junk Armor is a full Garnet sadly. This could be helped by adding a 2nd Armor, but I hate the idea of drawing this even more often.

The Radiants are also very often just bad normal summons when going 2nd. In order to help that I have been thinking of adding a 3rd MST, but Im also not sure about that.

The basic combo to get from the Radiant into Yummy is really simple:

  • Special Eldam, search for Swen
  • Special Swen to search an MST (the first to steps can also be done in reverse by searching Chant with Swen)
  • Make Invoker in the Extra Monster Zone
  • Detach to summon Junk Meister
  • Search Junk Armor, special it
  • Junk Meister target Armor to reduce its level to 1
  • Link Invoker into Gravity Controller

Now you have a Link-1 and a Level 1 for full Yummy combo. The spare Junk Meister should be Summoned under the EMZ to not take up a Spright Elf zone. It can be used during the Yummy combo to make I:P or Elf.

If however you already have a Yummy Combo Starter and a Radiant Typhoon you can go for a better combo:

  • Go full Yummy Combo
  • Summon Eldam, search Swen
  • Summon Swen, search Chant
  • Radiant Link-2, search MST
  • Chant for another MST
  • Link-2 place Mandate

This gives us 2 MST with Mandate negate on top of the Yummy board and a draw 1 if we use both the MSTs on their turn.

All in all the deck is very consistent (15 starters in 40 for >90%) and still plays 20 non-engine (18 of which are handtraps). The Radiant line also stays live after Purge from hand, which is why I chose it over Sky Striker in the first place.

The new cards are also just very fun to play. I would definetly recommend giving this deck a try!

You can find a couple of Replays on my Profile, you can tell by the Tags and representative cards what each one shows. I have one for the Main Combo with just a Radiant and one for the Yummy into Radiant (I had to farm duels just for those clips since people scoop WAY too fast against Yummy)

I unfortunately dont have any good going 2nd ones, since our turn two revolves 99% around the Yummy Field Spell to punch the opponent to death.
