Notes about the climb

I waited until after the new update came out to start climbing because I got sick of playing against Snake eyes. I saw a slight increase in deck diversity but for the most part it felt like a 40% chance to see a snake eyes player but they were much less common when I got closer to M5. Match-ups for the last 20 matches will be in the comments.

There were some hiccups with the original deck that was being run at 40 cards when I was seeing way too many equips that I would want in deck or in grave in hand with too little non-engine. Going up to 50 cards solved this, letting me play a few more non-engine cards alongside more starters and cards that I would want to see in my opening hand. This deck is very complicated though it is the first deck I ever really had an issue playing with a timer due to how non-linear it is.

Infernoble Cards

  • There cards are meant to give you an alternative line of play from just the natural snake eyes lines

  • The normal line for Isolde would be a normal summon Sublimation knight equip Mouse then special mouse to go into Isolde

  • Infernoble cards also pair very well with the Mikanko page getting equips in grave

  • Isolde send double edged sword special Renuad gets you double edged sword to hand to go for lethal with a Mikanko monster

  • The most common card you want to search with Isolde with her first effect is Oliver for follow up next turn

Mikanko Cards

  • The Mikanko cards let you fill your board with bodies with Ha-Re representing up three possible summons with Arabesque, Fire Dance and Mayo
  • Herald is usually made with a Mikanko and a lv 1 tuner to be linked off and sent to grave to get Ohime to hand
  • The Mikanko cards make monsters indestructible VIA cards effects so it provides a level of protection for either Herald or Appolusa
  • Rivalry can be used as a target negate, spell negate or monster steal depending on the equips you still have in deck
  • Depending on the hand Hu-Li Rivalry pass is you ideal Maxx c response
  • Hu-li and Appolusa on field does play into Superpoly
  • The Mikanko cards provide you a low invest response to most towers in the game

Snake Eyes

  • The snake eyes package provides a lot of fodder for link material
  • Ash plus Original Sin are technically generics for lv1 fire monsters
  • Engine is just too strong to not run

Card Choices/Techs

Double Edged Sword

  • Works very well for OTK’ing when going second with Mikanko monsters and cuts off the grind game aspect of many decks like lab and Snake Eyes

Axe of fools

  • An rivalry target and a equip negate when going second and if you manage to board Ohime after using this card to bait a negate you can use Ohime’s effect to negate another card

Handtraps

  • Current mix feels like the correct amount this deck really sucks in terms of the space it has for non engine even after increasing the deck size to 50
  • Used to run three Droll but one was removed to make room for Imperms as a Cross-out target don’t personally like Imperm as a card right now and droll stops a lot more of their grind game from the field spell search

Extra Decks

Accel

  • Works with a lv 1 tuner plus Diabellstar or Ohime plus Formula synchron to make either Baron or Powertool Braver Dragon
  • Preferred over Borrelload because not many people play Nib because most snake eyes lines have Nib safe lines

Powertool

  • Used because of the amount of utility it provides for this deck

Two Herald of Archelight

  • When sent grave it works as a search for Ohime
  • Also has very niche psudo macro cosmos effect where it banishes every monster sent from deck or hand to grave
  • If the negate is used it will also search Ohime
  • There are times when you will cycle through two on turn one to get the negate and the Ohime search

Endnotes

Climb was smooth so far, not much to complain about but it is nice to see decks other than Snake Eyes going around all though the new cards are cool they still don’t do all that much to the meta all together. Mikanko stands in a very odd position with the ability to put up some very unique interaction with the current meta decks.
