Intro

R-Ace is exponentially more playable than it was merely yesterday. While it isn't a tiered threat just yet, the Diabellstar package is an absolute must for this deck to perform at its highest caliber. Here's what's new:

Improvements

R-Ace now has a 1.5 card combo with Diabellstar. Depending on how you open, you can either bait hand traps with your Normal Summon, or you can do the standard Diabellstar line to do the same. That line goes: summon Diabellstar, use the on-summon effect to set Original Sinful Spoils, and then activate OSS to either eat a hand trap or start your R-Ace combo as Hydrant is summoned.

It's without question that this line does everything and more for the deck, as previously you'd need to almost specifically open Hydrant + Alert in order to get to Turbulence the quickest. There were just far too many steps to get to where you needed to start for this to be viable, up until now that is.

With the Diabellstar package, you can now start your combo without a Normal Summon, which is monumental for this archetype going forward. Diabelle also enables better extra deck plays with Dharc and Baronne, and, if you happen to have another Lv. 7 on field, No. 11 Big Eye, too. R-Ace has struggled with flexibility in the Droll meta we're in, and the Snake Eye cards have given it precisely that.

Tiered Threats

Rescue-Ace, if you opened well enough, could put up a fight against the top meta threats, but only provided you went 1st, your opponent didn't main any board breakers like Evenly Matched or Lightning Storm, and they also have just one hand trap. Now, while R-Ace is still far behind the likes of Branded and SHS, there is indeed enough gas in the tank for the deck to go 2nd, and recur fastidiously if your board is broken going 1st. Diabellstar also directly addresses a T3 problem that R-Ace had regarding having a potential out immediately removed or negated after its normal summon. Regarding the rest of the tiers, R-Ace has a much stronger match against decks that have immense power going first, like Mathmech and Mannadium, as it has the gas to play through negates. That said, R-Ace still struggles with other backrow-heavy decks like Labrynth and stun strategies, but the same principle still applies.

R-Ace overall has a bright future ahead of it, and if it ever was playable in MD, now is certainly when it's at it's best.
