Notes & Combos

Submitting this a few days after I made it to m5, but I have a LOT of thoughts about this deck, almost all positive.

If you want something that plays differently to most other decks, a deck that you wont have to instascoop if you get hit with the roach yet is also really fair with its interruptions, and highly values thinking ahead, resource management and using the right interruptions, this really is the deck for you.

I had even more fun with this than I did with Primite FS control back when it was more new.

Not gonna go super in depth about combos but I will mention a few things that I have either noticed or have changed to suit my experience:

1- Gulamel is an underrated card - not in the sense that people aren't playing it but that people aren't playing enough of it. Your only consistent recycling power are your traps, and while most games its perfectly fine to just recycle gulamel there's that 10% of games ESPECIALLY in the mirror where that isn't an option or having another gulamel would mean you could fuse into it and be able to break boards a bit more effectively. This is why I run 2 of it.

2 - Be really careful with spirit with eyes of blue - It dragon locks you and if you use a lukias combo to try make spheres but have your fymena get impulsed and you have only a spirit, nibs turned off and you also can't fuse into gulamel for the mirror (making gulamel in the mirror is so good esp if you go second and have fymena in hand

3 - The traps are worth protecting - this isn't much of a surprise but if you do have multiple backrow set its worth firing off sting in a matchup where is isn't particularly useful to just get the draw and recycle going. This tends to bait a lot of people into using and ash or interrupt on what isn't really important and allows your relevant backrow and even engine to hit a lot harder. Plus, the draw sometimes gets clutch draws and turns on fymena in low hand size situations. Or it draws you more handtraps. It's all pretty good either way but it is situational.

4 - It's worth grinding games out - As you may see on some of my replays (peep the orcust replay) some games tend to feel super lost but surprisingly with how resilient the deck is, you can turn unwinnable games into wins over a few turns. All I want to emphasise is that sometimes just stick around in a game and see how your opp may blunder or just not have the resources to maybe run over 2 revived arthalions. In simplified gamestates ketu may win you the game.
