Notes & Combos

  • Been playing Dracotail since its release in the TCG. Feels good to be able to actually play and interact on Turn Zero (aside from hand-traps). It is a mid ranged control deck that promotes interaction between players. Blowout games rarely happen because of its nature. The main deck monsters are strong, especially Faimena as it allows you to play on Turn Zero. The spells are also strong. Rahu acts as Branded Fusion but with less restrictions while Ketu acts as a ROTA that also acts as Poly on resolution if your opponent has a monster on the field. The Traps are FAIR because they can be negated by your staple hand-traps like Ash and Belle or dodged by Droplet (or any other cards that can displace other cards). This game design makes Dracotail a strong BUT FAIR top tier deck. Mind you we still have Dimensional Barrier and Red Reboot in MD which are hard counters.

  • Enough of the yapping. Let’s get to the cards. Starting with the standard Dracotail Core Ratio. 3 Lukias, 3 Faimena, 3 Malulu, 1 Urgula, 1 Pan, 1 Phryxul, 3 Rahu, 3 Ketu, 1 Flame, 1 Horn and 1 Sting. Then 3 Arthalion and 1 Gulamel. If you are playing pure Dracotail, you can cut Phryxul. I added it here because it serves as Sanctifire’s material (Light Spellcaster).

  • I am playing a small Branded package as my side engine because I can use it to bait my opponent’s Ash/ Impulse. This allows me to safely play Rahu. For this package I play 1 Albaz, 2 Branded Fusions, then for the extra deck I play 1 Albion, 1 Lubellion, 1 Mirrorjade and 1 Sanctifire.

  • I also play Tearlaments Havnis because it allows an extra fusion on my opponent’s turn.

  • For the non-engine. I play 3 Ash, 3 Fuwa, 2 Maxx “C”, 2 Veiler, 2 Belle, 1 Nib, 1 Magnamhut and 1 Called By. I used to run Droll at the beginning of my run because it still punishes other decks and it is a Spell Caster, so it can serve as a material for Spirit, Mysterion and Secreterion, however as I climb higher and higher, I face more Dracotail, which is resilient vs Droll.

  • For the remainder of the Extra Deck - I play 1 Dragostapelia (for Havnis), 1 Mysterion for linear decks like Maliss, 1 Secreterion for the mirror match, 1 Khaos for a 1-2 punch!, 1 Spirit (for Seals), 1 Seals so I can bounce and SS Malulu for an extra fusion and 1 SP Little Knight for the non-destruction removal (for the MAN).
