Notes & Combos

This is a fairly standard R-Ace build when it comes to the archetypal cards and their composition in the deck. I've gone through iterations where I've used Kashtira Fenrir for protection and to fade hand traps for my R-Ace monsters, as well as a means to get to Baronne de Fleur, but I found that its special summoning application was limited when I had options to play on Turn 0 and needed to search certain cards or establish any kind of presence.

Instead, I went for a small Therion package, as the field spell filled the role of fading both on-field effects and hand traps, and both Regulus and Ain synergize perfectly with the other R-Ace monsters once they're in grave. Theoretically, Regulus serves the same role as Baronne de Fleur as protection through negation, but has been easier to access on account of the possibility that I won't have to use my Normal Summon on an Ash Blossom to get a Synchro 10. Also, I can get my R-Ace monsters in grave really easily with the help of the generic Link-1 and Link-2 monsters I have in Extra, so they ended up being a more reliable summon in some cases as opposed to Fenrir, especially since Regulus has Quick Effect protection as opposed to Fenrir's triggering at the start of a new chain, which is ample time for it to be removed from the board.

On top of protection, the Therions serve as readily available Small World bridge targets for my other Machines and Warriors in deck. While I would normally lose out on them entirely, that's where Gizmek Naganaki comes in. Gizmek Naganaki serves as my 4th copy of Hydrant, a Small World bridge target, material for a Regulus (if I have the means to get to one), and the means by which I can recur my banished Small World reveals provided they're Machines. It also helps that in the event I absolutely need to summon Gizmek to get to Hydrant, people on this game don't really expect this tech to show up, so they tend to wait on using an Imperm, Ash Blossom, or Called By The Grave in order to see what I'm playing. Provided this search goes through, there's great potential for easy board swarming once Hydrant hits the field if you have either Fire Attacker or Fire Engine in hand. Despite its slow speed and risk factor in using a Normal Summon for it, Gizmek Naganaki has felt like both a reasonable and reliable tech at one copy for these aforementioned reasons.

Since I'm nearly out of space, I'll be happy to answer any further questions in the replies!
