Notes & Combos
Long ago in a distant land, I, Aku, the shape shifting master of darkness, unleashed an unspeakable evil. But a foolish samurai warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me. Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in time, and flung him into the future where my evil is law ...
- Wait a second, wrong samurai, but why does this also describe the current format and support?
After what felt like eons, the new support finally dropped, but probably at the worst time ever (Ryzeal - Maliss format).
However, that didn't discourage me from playing one of my all-time favourite (and legacy) decks.
For anyone looking for the cheapest version that is playable from mostly the Secret Pack itself - look no further, this is about as cheap as it gets (minus something like Dempsey and Naturia Beast, but you get the point).
Now, about the ratios and lack of board breakers and hand traps - look going 2nd is borderline impossible to manage, especially with limited resources. Let me put it this way - do you want to throw 3 hand traps at any meta deck only for them to still combo off, and you're out of gas to do anything? Remember, this deck doesn't have 1 card starters!
So if hand traps are not that good, why not switch to a full board breaker build? That will suffice, right? Ok, here's the thing: YES, you can run that kind of build, but you'll see them rarely (referring to board breakers), and if you're going 1st (which you want 10/10 times) they'll be stuck in your hand, and the only way to use them really is as fodder for Battle Shogun.
As for Primite? Yeah, this is a personal thing, not my cup of tea (I do have the entire package). All that side engine for a single Primite Drillbeam - yeah, no.
There are a few flexible spots that I'll most likely have to change for some high-impact cards in this format. Just to name a few, you can cut Red (Mizuho) and Blue (Shinai), Squire with Beast, Dempsey, Uniteds and maybe a card or 2 more. But that's it, basically.
As for combos? Wait, no seriously, before you even attempt to ask this question, let me stop you right now and tell you to just grab (or open) Gateway with names to put counters on it (Kizan and Grandmaster being the 2 main ones to loop). Imagine everything else as an empty canvas, and you're the painter that makes your own masterpiece of an omni negate board.
If you still have no clue what to do, I've left a couple of replays on my profile so you can check them out.
Phew ...If you've been reading all the way up to this point, let me just tell you that you are a legendary (Six Samurai) reader/viewer, and I hope you're having a great day! As always, cheers!
