Notes & Combos

I haven't played MD for months, but Havnis getting unlimited encouraged me to play Tear again.

How good is Tear now with Havnis at 3? Not as good as Elfnote KT or Branded Dracotail, but still quite good.

Main Deck

After experimenting with lots of different engines and non-engine cards, I decided to stick with the cards that gave me the best winrate. Surprisingly, the list from metazuku with Fenrir and Ash Blossom had the best performance during my testing, which I didn't expect. I was convinced that this build would struggle with Droll and Lockbird and that Ash Blossom is not good enough to win going 2nd, but it turned out that Ash in combination with other handtraps such as the unlimited Havnis can be pretty effective.

Ash was also very strong in combination with Engraver/Tract, those cards are usually terrible starters under Mulcharmy Fuwalos from the opponent, but Ash can negate Fuwalos. In my opinion, playing a huge fiendsmith engine is the most consistent option to win going 2nd.

I tried other stuff, such as the Shining Sarc engine, a Gem-Knight engine, a smaller Fiendsmith engine combined with more boardbreakers like Superpoly/Droplet, but all of those approaches performed worse than this list.

Extra Deck

Mandatory: Kitkallos, Rulkallos, Kaleidoheart, Moon, Requiem, Sequence, Lacrima, Pilgrim Reaper

Very important:

-Desirae (if you draw Engraver/Tract or mill Tract, you can make both Fiendsmith Fusions turn 1)

-Agnumday (MVP for OTKs going 2nd and allows you to play around Superpoly going 1st)

-Dugares

-S:P Little Knight

Flex Spots:

-The Undying Legion (pretty helpful endboard piece when your mills aren't good enough)

-Dragostapelia (comes up occasionally but not very often)

-Exciton Knight (nice for going 2nd, won me a couple games and sometimes a better bridge into Fiendsmith than Moon if you don't want to get Reinoheart banished)

Don't bother with W:P Fancy Ball or link 4s like A Bao, they are just winmore cards. In 30+ games with W:P in my extra, I never resolved the effect once (either not enough bodies because of opponent's handtraps or boardbreakers like Superoly/Droplet/Crown/F&V on W:P).
