Notes & Combos

This list is inspired by Night Fall. Who sold me on Nadir as BiHS alternative.

So at this point pretty much every Dracotail list should be on BiHS already. Some even go extra Branded-heavy with running both BiHS and Nadir. So this month I decided to do neither and test only Nadir, no BiHS in sight!

You really should be on more Branded names before you look for Nadir: BiHS, Quem, GGG, etc. But here I just want to test it in a vacuum, as if you'd play 3 BiHS for consistency. But anyway.

TL/DR, Nadir is a valid side-grade to BiHS. Nadir can't be used as a starter, and instead act like a ceiling extender & stronger 1cc than BiHS if you draw no other starter in exchange.

Pros:

• Gives us standalone 1c plays, as well as way more pushes on top of your main play than BiHS could ever compare, very much worth the lock.
• Doesn't cost a discard.
• Dracotail being the secondary engine gives Nadir more pushing power than in pure Branded, since there's fewer overlaps, similar to BraFu.

Cons:

• Unable to start your Dracotail plays.
• Going 2nd, if you can't bait out all negates by the time you reach Nadir, it's a dead brick on hand.
• Require bricks to make full use of. Even just running Dogma Ecc & Retri significantly worsen your hand quality, thus encouraging runnig bigger decks, thus seeing Dracotail cards less reliably.
• Thus, not worth using if you just want starter consistency, as its big strength is to reliably set up FnV + Retri on top of your board.
• Conflicts with Verte, and weak to Droll.

Sample line:

1. Nadir sends Luluwa for Walbaz
2. Walbaz sends Dogma for Dogma Ecc
3. Dogma Ecc searches FnV, set it
4. End Phase, Luluwa SS Cart, Dogma searches FnV
5. FnV sends Albion pops Dogma Ecc
6. Albion sets Retri

-> From 1 Nadir you get Walbaz + Cart into rotation, FnV + Retri set & 1 pop if the EP FnV was used on an opponent monster.

Extra Deck note: Luluwa is mainly only for EP Cart summon, and can be replaced with GGG if you wish to run BiHS and/or Quem along side this package (you kinda should). Otherwise you should replace 2nd Albion or Titaniklad, Sanc is still your go-to Verte target, too important to cut. Malong is also an option to help Nadir breaks board going 2nd.

Overall, it is not advised to play Nadir without at minimum Retri, as the multiple Extra Deck dumps Nadir facilitate can only really be capitalized with Retri. If you only wish to play a consistency package, you should stick with BiHS. Otherwise, do not be afraid to give Nadir a try!
