Notes & Combos
Early M1 - Dinomorphia Labrynth
Perhaps it’s because the metagame is distinctly in a two deck race or how the choices in that pair heavily encourage narrowish answers, that at times, flirt on the side of clunky, but season 45 felt notably bland - stagnant in play dynamics and accompanied by an overall environment that's heavily solved at this point and all too familiar. In a good amount of ways, a lot of its beats and shortcomings are just a clear dupe of 44.
Fittingly, the deck choice of this climb is essentially the same shell as last season in 44, just minus its flex engine. So once again, we're leaning on fundamental positioning to get the job done, in which this Lab variant is still solid at accomplishing that right now. The interaction suite remains attractive to be on as its options for Ryzeal and Maliss are strong, and its structure complements it well by making sure that's front and center. While I’m not exactly a fan of the meta itself, I still enjoy this deck's execution within it.
Notes
- Ryzeal is the latest newcomer between last season and now with clearly enough impact on the metagame to be noteworthy. However, there's not too much nuance here; Lab’s toolkit is patently strong against them to such an extent that it's easily a favorable matchup - even going second into their ideal board, there's still rather reasonable avenues for you to stabilize on turn 3 and start pulling ahead from there. Lab has its choice of silver bullets for this MU, and while you don't actually need one to get by with proper play, I opted for Barrier regardless in an effort to ice those games that much faster and save time on the climb to get Ranked over with sooner.
