Replays are up now. Would love it if a few people went and watched, won't lie this deck was frustrating to use and more effort than any other deck I have reached max rank with. If you want to see someone lose their mind over MD feel free to join the MDM discord server and check out the Monarch channel’s chat. This deck almost made me want to quit using rogue decks, and took me 3 months to finally reach Master 1.

The deck is reasonable, and it is very good at what it does, when it is able to execute its game plan. I think this META is the best possible META for the deck due to the nerfing of essentially all the top decks and the addition of Purrely.

Spoiler! This deck is great against Purrely. After Stormforth resolves it is a lingering effect, not activated. The deck is okay against Kash, but when Kash gets all of its support if you hope to use this deck remove the 2x Anchamoufrite + 1 card for 3x Chaos Hunter.

High points of the deck:

  • If you go 1st in 80% of cases you will be able to set up Domain lock, Vanity's, or Erupt relatively easy.
  • The deck is fun and plays with a low ceiling. It feels so rewarding to win a duel with the deck.
  • People do not know how to counter Monarch in 2023. How often people fell for 2-1 reveal bait from Tenacity was unreasonable. People almost always shotgun their negates due to how scary cards like Stormforth are which makes baiting very easy.
  • The deck doesn't care about Maxx C at all and it has a 94% play rate? Worst case scenario Maxx C is an upstart (or a +1 if you use Ehther and decide this was the optimal play).
  • There are quite a few flex spots in the deck. I think I edited this 15-20 times in the last 3 months trying to hit Master 1 with the deck.
    • Recommended Flex Spots: Erupt, Anchamoufrite, Return, Eidos (x1), Erebus (x1), and if you remove Ei&Er all 3 Allures.

Low points:

  • The deck can brick and is susceptible to hand traps that are "WELL TIMED". Baiting is super important with this deck and easy, but if someone knows how Monarchs work (rare) 1 Ash, Imperm, or Veiler can beat you.
  • The deck can brick part 2. Its actually unreasonable how often this deck sees either 3+ tributes in an opening hand or 0 monsters an entire duel. I do not understand it.
  • The deck does not play 2nd as well as other decks do, losing the coin flip without Maxx C is an uphill battle but its still winnable. This is maybe the most polarized coin flip deck in the game w/ Subterror.
