Notes & Combos

Hi!

I didn't want to exactly use this deck to reach my second ever Master I, but here we are. If you have seen my only Maliss decklist, you would know that last time I utilized Sky Striker Maliss to test post-banlist Maliss before the banlist was actually effective. Well, the banlist is effective now, of course, so how is Maliss in practice? Here's an overview on choices:

-Maliss Engine: The same reasoning applies as before: I desired to have all Maliss names available. Dormouse, White Rabbit, and Chessy Cat should be ran as much copies as the limited list allows us to maximize the likelihood of enhanced two-card combos.

-Handtraps: With Called By and Droll hit, some hand-trap space has been freed up. I opt'd for a similar hand-trap lineup as my SS Maliss list. What I think what might catch your eye is:

--Handtraps (Bystial Package): Yes, you see this right. We are running not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, but SIX Bystials. Not only do they provide a way to extend our combos, but also pretty cool ways of interruption against the most prevalent decks: Orcust, Mitsurugi variants, Fiendsmith variants, Maliss (sometimes), Sky Striker (maybe) etc. Also, I just really like the Bystials. Their designs, function, artwork, and synergy with this deck just rubs me the right way. You could certainly diversify the Bystial count (adding Saronir for example) to not brick on duplicate names, but I found that Baldrake and Druiswurm were effective. Obviously, you don't have to run a heavier package; two-three are plenty.

-Extra Deck: Relatively similar to my last Maliss list, but since we are not running the Sky Striker engine, we do not need Kagari. I opt'd for Transcode+Topologic Bomber Dragon as my main flex choices, though Dhark, Lizardose, I:P Masquerena, and Heatsoul are good options too. They're just here if we cannot reach the maximum ceiling with our endboards (either with a weak hand or interrupted combo).

I think this list fares well into the current meta. I'm not sure if I enjoy it more than the Sky Striker version, but the Bystials certainly add enjoyability, personally. Maliss was the deck that finished the job, but it certainly was not the only deck I used. I recently am testing Mitsurugi and its variants since I crafted the cards (intriguing deck, by the way. Habakiri is busted). I might toy around with the new Sky Striker cards once I get them. Anyways, thank you for reading!
