Early M1 - Arias Lab

If you're not playing one of the clear top decks of the meta, then presumably, you're playing a deck that has some sort of notable angle against them, and this is certainly the case of the latter. Labrynth has always had effective interaction, balancing its preventative measures with just enough wiggle room to keep it from feeling too narrow, and mixing that with a level of removal and reactive details to produce a comfy game pace very suited for seasoned control players. But here we find another gear, as Beat the Boss Rush recently provided the deck with even more tools in the latest Dominus addition - assisting its ability to go second and further thickening up its value game all in one stroke. As long as you're being cognitive about your play and staying technically sound, Lab can be sneakily triumphant in the meta.

Notes
  • There’s really only one card to note; Songs of the Dominators is getting attention here, and honestly, it should come as no real surprise. It’s one of the few viable normal traps that trades north of 1:1 and the only one that does so with turn zero implications - immediately checking boxes that are pretty attractive for Lab. Being able to search for Impulse in particular is of course, a big strength; Impulse itself is strong right now, and immediately threatening that after already stifling a play is often a great spot to be in.

The non-targeting aspect of it is easy to sleep on, but I've been finding it very useful catching otherwise evasive situations like Fiendsmith’s Requiem going for its effect or even a Maliss monster being summoned and activated after a freshly set backrow. It was good all run regardless if I opened it going first or second, and even seeing it as my sixth card was helpful in a chunk of games too.
