Notes & Combos
Hello! I'm the Yubel Fiendsmith Kashtira guy. This season, I decided to cut the Kashtiras to load up more on hand traps. The reason why is because too often, I'd open all gas on turn 2 and just get clapped by my opponent's end board. I wanted more interaction on their turn 1, and after playing this version, I actually felt really comfortable going first and second. I dunno—there was some level of solace knowing I’d have 1–2 hand traps against my opponent. (Also, we get to cut the brick that is Kashtira Birth! Woot woot!)
I don't believe Yubel needs to overly prepare for going second. Since we want to go first and statistically lose coin flips 50% of the time, we need to prepare for both scenarios—but not overly bias one over the other. The Kash cards help with going first, but going second? Not as much. Like, “Phffff, yeah, rip a card from my Extra Deck, buddy. You're dead next turn regardless.” On turn 1, where they have 1–3 disruption, Kash cards are great at baiting hand traps. But turn 2? They just can’t bait out enough.
If anyone asks me whether I still recommend Kashtiras, I'd still say yes—they provide insane value, and you'd help the cause of getting Unicorn banned. If your worries are that you'll brick too much and want more backup plans, use Kash. Your turn 1s will become godlike, but your turn 2s will make you cry.
