Notes & Combos

I played Sinful Labrynth Midrange for season 29 to an early M1. This construction is yet again a close clone of seasons prior from me, so if you're totally new to this deck and are curious about what's going on please read here.

The card pool here is stacked with some of the best tools the meta has to offer today: From more premium interaction like Daruma to quality normals like Ash and Arianna, the build offers a strong floor - even neatly hosting game-warping, over-the-top threats like Arise-Heart without stuttering. And of course, it's upheld by a firm base of exceptional value-engines to not only keep you in grindy games but truly make that environment desirable to openly pursue. With that said this deck continues to feel rewarding among exchanges, especially if your understanding of trading resources goes beyond the general scope of CA, and with its threat density and overall card quality I never felt truly out of any given MU

Notes

As suggested in last season's profile, beyond the title archetypes that are at this deck's heart and act as glue (Sinful Spoils / Labrynth) we're not actually married to anything else here. The sub-engines are perfectly fine to be tweaked to whatever the meta demands at the time, and for this rank run we're back on Kash. Coming into the season I liked Kash's matchup spread in testing, and really appreciated them against R-ACE in particular. Birth felt strong there, especially against the greedier 60-card versions that have more going on in the GY than normal, and as always, the usual Kash suspects on the monster end are still quite good to compact boards. With the banlist changes, I expected at least some additional degree of players to move to R-ACE in May, the deck was already becoming rather popular on ladder by late April and getting results from bigger names in MD's scene, so the encouragement was there to do so, and thus, the banlist just had to be a little bit of a tipping point to push that decision even further and that seemed to be the case. I was even happier with Kash given how the the ladder circumstances actually turned out.

This list is also equipped with a full-set of Evenly and Droll. Droll being yet another solid obstacle for the fire trucks, provides nice coverage for Purrely who was also seeing increased play, and was at least reasonable into SE with more situational positioning to be good. Evenly on the other hand continues the countermeasures against R-ACE in a brighter fashion, being fantastic there, while also remaining sound into a variety of the meta's top end. Even against a matchup where it can be a bit lackluster traditionally (like Lab) you can still get good value out of it depending on the variant (ex. Arias Lab).

Lastly, it's worth noting there were a handful of games that I also played a copy of Kurikara and the 6th copy of Daruma Cannon around M4 because I found myself playing a lot of Purrely. I would recommend giving those a look if you find yourself in a similar situation on ladder - they were both good when I was on them.
