Notes & Combos

After playing with some Synchros for most of my Diamond to Master run, I decided to fully abandon the Synchros in favor of a pure Link build which was very rewarding to play and gave me the versatility / flexibility needed to get to M1.

Why did you cut the Synchros?

To be frank, I wasn't a huge fan of Jet Synchron since it was a brick that constantly sticked to my hand in most of my Snake-Eyes games in both S26 and S27.

Moreover, the ubiquity of handtraps in the Snake-Eyes mirror or other decks made going into two card combos much rarer and thus left me unable to access Jet Synchron and Borreload Savage Dragon / Baronne de Fleur.

Thus, I decided to cut Jet Synchron in favor of cards like Silvera, Subversion, or Pot of Prosperity which were more useful.

Subversion is in the current decklist as I was expecting Stun for most of Master II, but that strangely never came up for my run. If I knew what I was getting into, Silvera or Prosperity would've been my choice going forward as the former gave me a 2-card combo that insulates against boardbreakers while the latter increases consistency.

Are Bystials good handtraps for the current meta?

After playing with them in Master V to Master I, I personally think Bystials are a better fit for Snake-Eyes than Kashtira Unicorn as they're cards that provide bodies and card advantage but also give you interruption for the opponent's turn if they play into it.

The deck space they take up is also much smaller than the Kashtira engine so I could add other handtraps for even more interruption going second.

I'm very pleased with how they've performed in the deck and I'll probably keep using them until the meta changes to be less handtrap focused.

Is this a superior build to a deck with Synchros?

Personally, I don't know, as the Synchros provide something that the pure Link build lacks: answers to boardbreakers, specifically Triple Tactics Talent.

It was a worthy sacrifice to make in favor of making the deck less bricky and more effective going second on ladder, but in tournaments I'd include the Synchros as Talents will be mained or sided in that environment.
