Notes & Combos
Classic Yubel Deck – July Meta Update This is an updated Yubel build, shifting focus from older matchups like Blue-Eyes to dealing with current threats like Maliss. I’ve cut Bystial and Ghost Ogre, focusing more on draw and consistency via Fuwalos. Depending on the meta, I sometimes play Fuwalos and Lancea at 3x each. Nibiru remains one of the best hand traps—great against combo decks and especially strong vs Maliss when they flood the field (like before summoning Apollousa). I run 2 copies. Lancea is arguably the best tech vs Maliss, stopping banish plays and protecting key pieces like Phantom from Called by the Grave. I prefer Necroquip over Apollousa. It synergizes well with Lacrima, helps summon Caesar, and works even off a Gates opener—letting you build a strong board with Varudras, Desirae, Phantom, and Rage in the GY. While Apollousa is powerful, it doesn’t mesh well with Fiends, especially when relying on Muckraker to keep plays going. That’s why I stick with Necroquip. Necroquip also combos well with Engraver. Discard a monster to grab Tract, triggering Princess for a free draw—huge tempo boost. Draw power is lifesaving—pulling a Maxx "C" or another trap mid-game often wins the match. Check out TeamSamuraiX1’s lines—ending with Varudras, Desirae, and Phantom off just Gates is super consistent now. I cut Chaos Hunter—it underperforms lately. Considering adding back Chaos Summoning Beast for extra recovery or resource push in tough matchups. Despite being rogue, Yubel remains flexible and explosive. With solid piloting, it can stabilize and win from almost any start. Been playing Yubel for a year now—it never lets you down!
