Notes & Combos

Continuing onward with the battle towards Master 1, I resume this season with Runick Stun, displaying the build that took me from Diamond 5 to Master 1. This deck was born out of the realization that Yugioh, nowadays, is much about preventing your opponent from playing the game (at least in a competitive sense). Most should already be aware that Konami is disfavoring both Stun and Runick, regardless of whether the two are or are not played together. This is absurd and inappropriate given the current state of the competetive, meta game. Konami knows these two deck types are within the budget range of those who are busy & have lives while also requiring knowledge & skill pertaining to the current banlist.

Combine your Runick cards with the pictured stun cards and seek to disable your opponent's strategies while banishing their deck to victory. Majesty's Fiend (MF), Time-Tearing Morganite (TTM) and Barrier Statue of the Heavens (BSH), as well as Inspector Boarder (IB), play a crucial role in defending against special summoning and monster effects. I opted out of Pot of Duality (PoD) and Card of Demise (CoD) because these cards interfere with your ability to Special Summon (SS) MF - the draw cards are nice in theory, but inhibit you from bringing out more power (Majesty's Fiend) first turn and leave you with an inability to protect your field (Hugin, Munin), thereby leaving you with some form of deaddraw. Remove Synchro zone, now with Super-heavy samurai encouraging individuals to think about, and bring back, a more synchro-focused meta. BSH is very effective in this, and the coming, formats as very little decks function on a strong board involving LIGHT monsters, except Exosister. Exosister is disfavored right now in light of Super Heavy Samurai for the major meta players.
