Notes & Combos
Main difference to most builds is the lack of Impulse and Songs. I have no idea how you’re supposed to win after resolving Impulse from hand because all your monsters become vanillas, and I took out Songs because I want my hand trap combinations to conflict as less as possible. The problem is that there isn’t a great replacement in those spots. I’ve tried Gamma & Delta and while Gamma is busted, having Delta going 1st is like playing with one less card. Multiples of Delta and Gamma also become useless drawn together, and on top of that you have to play a brick, so it didn’t feel great. Fuwa is also not great in this deck because I think you need to focus more on maximizing your chances of winning going first instead of second. So I ended up just settling with Veiler in those spots.
I did most of my climb with 2x Soul Drain, and they were really good, but after the DC I was seeing a ton of Ryzeal so I swapped them for Skill Drain and a Solemn Strike. This deck does not have a good matchup against Ryzeal because you can’t get rid of their bodies so all your stuff trade poorly with them.
Also did most of my climb with 1 Scorpion, and it was a nice card to help you put an additional body onto the board to link off or make Baronne but I ended up taking it out for another starter because I needed the consistency over a higher ceiling.
Overall I have to say this deck is extremely enjoyable to play, it’s just such a breath of fresh air from how most other deck operates.
