Notes & Combos

Hello!

So, good news and bad news:

I think I might have deranked a whopping estimated six times during this run to Master I...

Initially I piloted Sky Striker to Master 3, and was successful for a bit. However, I perpetually deranked from Master 3 to Master 4, and Master 2 to Master 3, so I turned off my brain and piloted Maliss, which allowed for quicker games and overall performance due to the addition of several handtraps and powerful combos. Though, maybe this is for the last time since the banlist limited its consistency again.

Lightning round on decklist choices:

-Bystials/Handtraps: Bystials were not necessary for my run due to the abundance of Dracotail, Apophis, Ryzeal, Onomat, and Maliss matchups, which otherwise barely cared about them. Space for other handtraps such as Fuwalos and Imperm were more effective, personally. Maxx C and Fuwalos, as always, could single handledly decide games when resolved.

+Red Reboot: A one of from indecision on flexibility choices. Highly effective against decks with potent trap cards such as Labrynth, Onomat, Orcust, Mitsurugi Maliss, Dracotail, and Apophis.

Conclusion:

I think those are the only noteworthy variances in my Maliss decklist. Overall, not a fun climb (in fact, the most tedious and grueling run ever in the five months I have seriously played of ranked), but Maliss is genuinely a fun deck for me in this nerfed state. You are vulnerable to more handtraps this way, and are not going to access every piece like in previous formats. The deck's compactness, consistency, draw power, and ability to deck out 17+ handtraps made it still one of the viable and strongest decks this month despite the banlist. Dominus Impulse is an absurdly strong card that this deck in particular can use that other decks cannot, allowing it to negate power spells such as the Mitsurugi and Dracotail spells. I probably should have stopped during the fourth de-rank to maintain health, but grit and perserverance (and delusion) helped me through.

If you have finished reading this, thank you! That means a lot to me.
