Notable Changes From Season 23

Diameter limit threw a wrench in my plans otherwise I would have used a version of my Season 23b list below, linked below:

The closest replacement to Diameter is Nabla, which is definitely not the same outside of being able to tribute itself to grab Diameter. Another card I considered was Armored Bitron, this functions like Nabla and its stats are almost great for Small World! Level 2 500 ATK excludes it from Maxx C, but I might revisit it again.

Originally, I felt like Defenser could be played without eXceed but I gave it a shot this time. The non-engine handtrap slots had to go down to 14 in 40 which is just above the bare minimum of 13 (a 50% threshold to open 2 handtraps in 40). I didn't run Cynet Conflict to stick to 40 cards, but I wouldn't say it is bad here. Because I run 14 handtraps, its possible to increase the deck size to 45 to meet the minimum (50% to open 2 handtraps in 45).

Singularity + Terahertz performed well for me. Like Conflict, its an insurance policy against bystials and a bigger endboard. In the previous season, I did not summon Singularity often because my opponents would handtrap me so I would end on Terahertz, but this was still an amazing position! In this season, there were "fewer" handtraps by way of matchups. Decks like Stun, VS, Branded and Kashtira had lower impact handtraps and relied on boardbreakers or their engine to dismantle boards. A lot of the times I went first, there was very little interaction and I could achieve Singularity more often. This also applies to Conflict but I believe the difference for me was a combination of needing to play 40 to maximize my chances of seeing Ash vs Branded and generating followup with Singularity's revive effect.

Singularity also made the difference going first vs backrow matchups (Stun and Labrynth). I would end phase bounce all their backrow and be able to respond on my turn to bounce any remaining floodgates! It really felt like this format I was squeezing every effect I could out of Singularity.

Matchup Breakdown (86 Duels; 47 Heads, 39 Tails)
  • 10 Bystial Branded (11.6%, W/R = 60%)
  • 8 Kashtira (9.3%, W/R = 75%)
  • 8 Stun (9.3%, W/R = 87.5%)
  • 8 Vanquish Soul (9.3%, W/R = 87.5%)
  • 5 Dragon Link (5.8%, W/R = 80%)

One of my fastest climbs, and definitely a skew in coin flips. A varied format similar to Duelist Cup.
