Notes & Combos

Shoutout to the absolute chad Takagi for becoming Duel Links world champion with Crusadia finishing the job on the biggest stage!!! Crusadia is eternal!!!

See July writeup for full explanation on why I like midrange Mekk-Crusadia at the moment: https://www.masterduelmeta.com/top-decks/master-i/july-2023/mekk-knight-crusadia/cydver/jWoD0

Tech changes:

• -2 Super Poly
• -2 Cosmic
• -2 Kaiju
• +1 LS
• +2 CoH
• +3 Mind Control

In a nutshell:

Super Poly fell off hard for me as Tears have become dominant again, probably due to their inexplicable access to the recently released Grapha. Also faced a lot of stun and Lab, alongside Floo, Exo, and that weird Chaos deck that mills 59 cards in 1 turn. Cosmic wasn't doing anything to those. I started climbing with Droplet, but ultimately went back to Mind Control and CoH because they are great value vs Tears + grant an extra body for link climbing compared to Kaijus.

Tech lineup ultimately looks quite similar to the pure OTK list I played in May, which is unsurprising as that one performed well primarily because of Tear 0. Of course, Evenly here >>>>>> Kaijus, and it's just so much nicer to have multiple win-cons.

I've been pretty happy with the consistency of this deck core for quite a while now. I recall someone once left a comment proclaiming "There is no way you reached Diamond 1 with this trash, half the deck is handtraps/boardbreakers." Well, if you check some of the live gameplay I've uploaded, the hands are mostly nice and viable, and I can still climb in timely fashion. MD is really unbalanced, so many boards are nigh unbreakable, and there will be brick hands here and there, but I'm pleased with consistency and performance overall. Can't say my dear old friend, Draw-the-Out-Mekk-Crusadia.dek, has really ever let me down with a crazy streak of unplayable hands.
