Notes & Combos

Speedroids for April! The Kashtira Unicorn hit is a pretty minor one all told. I replaced the 3rd copy with a copy of the field spell since Droll is less of a concern right now, and that worked out just fine. I also cut some non-engine to get down to 40 cards since I wanted see a Maxx C answer as often as possible. Hands with Terrortop or Unicorn in them are also notably stronger than those without, so I'd hesitate to play more than 40 cards in MD again, even if it means seeing more of the garnets and having to adapt combo lines on the fly. There's a random Speed Recovery in there mostly for fun; you could easily swap it and Rubberband Plane for different extenders, more handtraps, or consistency tools.

Meta-wise, I felt Unchained was a bit of a struggle. Speedroid endboards are full of destruction effects and the deck punishes that approach effectively. I also lost a lot to Super Poly, which trivially outs the standard Crystal Wing/Baronne endboard. Otherwise, the deck held its own against a wide variety of opposition. Against Snake-Eye, it's important to avoid letting them search Kurikara, but strong hands have a good shot at winning even going 2nd. Kitedrake was probably the MVP, but my favourite interaction will always be using Hagoita's level modulation to mess with Synchro and Xyz strategies. It could be worth experimenting with Shenshen in the Extra Deck in the future for Snake-Eye and Labrynth, but I quite like my current toolbox and I'm already only running one Crystal Wing.

Overall, the deck remains super fun to play. I felt the climb was a bit of a charmed run in the end, but it's cool to take the deck to Master I even in the face of power creep.
