Notes & Combos

Tired of Branded Dracotail? Don't want to grind a weakened version of it and instead look for a change of pace? Why not pick up Fiendsmith Dracotail and Jumpscare your opponent with Requiem!

This is only a skeleton, you can change a lot of ratios around, including still running Branded with this!

Theory: With Moon banned, we make use of the only generic LIGHT Fiend Fusion: Magnum the Reliever.

To get to this bridge, I use 2 other side-engines: Cartesia and Patchwork.

  • Cartesia needs no introduction, she can summon Magnum with him being Lv8.
  • The Patchwork engine works by Fusing or Linking off an Edge Imp Chain, which searches Patchwork for another Imp + OG Poly. And the board state is there to immediately go into Magnum. This means that any way to use Imp as material is Fiendsmith bridge. And also if you use Poly to get to him, Magnum can spin it back to draw 1 for net neutral in card advantage!

And even though we don't have Caesar, nor can it bridge back into Dracotail, Fiendsmith still provide Desirae and - with Tract access - enough materials for Verte or other ED targets on top.

Minor Techs:

Instead of the Branded Fusion package, I run Super Poly as Verte target. Shing Flare Wingman is an amazing target that imo justify running Spoly. And going 1st, Verte can just send OG Poly to still summon him for a hand refill.

Granguignol is there as a backup target for Cartesia to fuse with Edge Imp Chain in hand. It can dump Garura for 1 draw going 1st and Lacrima for Engraver revive can come in clutch going 2nd.

Pros:

  • Fiendsmith is a disruption magnet. Opponent will almost always use the like of Ash & Impulse on Requiem, so your Dracotail play will be extremely safe from disruptions if you draw both engines.
  • Patchwork provides both the monster fodder and the fuse spell, something we appreciate with the limited Ketu.
  • Neither side-engines locks you in any way, Fiendsmith mostly doesn't interfere with your Dracotail plays.
  • A lot of recyclers, so you basically never run out of resources.

Cons:

  • You still have to hard draw Dracotail names. Without Branded Fusion, you can at best hope to draw into them with the 1 draw from Magnum and 2 draws from Shining Flare Wingman.
  • Patchwork & Fiendsmith engines don't feel great when you draw a lot of names of.
  • Fiendsmith lack the explosive play on Opponent's turn of Branded.
  • No great Verte target going 1st. At best he can be used to draw 2 with Shining Flare Wingman.
  • Tight ED, this deck can technically run Branded as the 4th engine, but you lack the ED space to make full use of each individual engines.
