Notes & Combos

A terrifying deck that'll bring you to tears, just in time for Halloween, a Tearlaments Pumpking Zombie 60 card pile!

Forget about going second, since this deck isn't that great on the draw, considering it has nearly no handtraps or boardbreakers. You can definitely push through boards with just engine, but you need to hope that you draw the right cards and not go up against Elfnotes, scary ...

Tearlaments provides the deck with a strong mill engine. Kitkallos alone mills for 10, Scheiren and Grief are extenders, the Fusions allow for Cross-Sheep to be used and Rulkallos is a nice additional endboard piece for a deck without many hard negates.

For the Pumpking part, most of it is standard. 9 insane starters with Stare which searches Fortification which searches the Pumpking himself. Don't forget that Fortification can only be used when you control no monsters and that Pumpking locks out the second effect of Kitkallos or you'll be spooked when the buttons don't glow.

Uni-Zombie is probably the best Zombie starter, Mezuki the best extender and Balerdroch the best endboard piece. This runs three different field spells, all of which decent. Call can be searched with Snake or the Pumpking Xyz, Delta send Balerdroch, makes Baronne with Uni-Zombie and can be added back if milled together with Army and Zombie World can be accessed easily with Banshee from grave once the other two are used up.

As for the other card choices, since this is a 60 card deck, it runs so many 1-offs that you'll be scared by how many you draw. If you have three thrust, you should probably run three, since a Grass resolving after your opponent used up all their negates with for sure spook them good.

It's also really fun to use such an old card as Call of the Haunted. The field spell let's you set three of them which adds some nice layering to the endboard. Ideally, you have a Tearlaments starter and one of the nine Pumpking ones, rest heavily depends on what you mill.

It is frightening how often this deck allows you to send a Zombie monster to grave, but it's even more chilling how much difference really anything hit off of the Tear mills makes. There are so many situations where you'd want to send Uni-Zombie, but you don't have access to it without an already milled Mezuki or Cross-Sheep. Balerdroch is at its strongest when Banshee is in grave, Samuel with Army access is insane since you don't have to forgo the Pumpking Xyz, not to mention the plethora of mill targets!

Replays showing the full Combo under Fuwaloss, the fuller Combo which made me wish for more monster zones, one going second match against Branded, a game where I resolved CoH 5 times and a fun game against Sky Striker, enjoy!
