Notes & Combos

Reasoning for certain cards:

x2 Heavenly Dragon Circle: This card is BUSTED. For example, you can use it to:

  • Dodge Imperm: Let's say your Taia or Mo Ye gets Impermed. You can chain HDC to tribute your monster, get your token out still, and then gain a search. And, since the token stays on the field, if you have any tenyi's in hand, you can SS them for free.
  • Search Protos: Locking opponents out of Dark types is an autowin against many decks. You can use HDC to tribute any Wyrm monster to search out protos. With some hands, you'll have an extra Tenyi or monk out on the field, and you can use it as tribute fodder.

x0 Vessel for the Dragon Cycle

  • I don't think this card is necessary. I experimented with it, and it rarely came up. Can be useful going second to dump Vishuda for removal but, unless used in a dedicated going second variant, I feel that this card bricks more than helps extend.

x3 Imperm

  • Amazing going second (very difficult for your opponent to negate). Very strong going first. Can cut down to x2, but I go for x3 because of its impact and flexibility

x1 Shthana

  • Very underrated card. All the Swordsoul tokens are level 4 tuners, and Shthana is a level 4 non-tuner. If you have Shthana in hand and have a leftover token on your field (let's say you dodged Imperm with HDC, so you removed the swordsoul monster), you can continue on and make a Lvl 8 synchro. Same thing if Ashuna is in your GY; banish it to SS Shthana from your deck and continue your combo!

x2 Pot

  • Not uncommon to open Emergence and Pot -- your opponent can't ash both. Depending on which one you want to resolve first, you can bait one of them first to eat the Ash. Something to keep in mind: We have lots of multiples in this deck, but only 1 Protos. If you're safely able to, you can save Pot to the end of your combo to ensure you don't banish Protos accidentally. Also, Mo Ye chain blocks Chixaio already, so you don't have to use Pot to bait the Ash negate for that! Realistcally, can cut down to x1, but x2 felt good

x1 Nibiru

  • Very strong in general. This gives Maxx C some bite; I've won several duels with Nibiru when my opponent takes the Maxx C challenge. Without Nibiru, we only have Ash and Imperm (sometimes) as handtraps. In my opinion, its a necessary card

x2 CBTG, x1 Crossout, x3 Ash, x3 Maxx C

  • Non-negotiables. This is the game within the game. Maxx C can singlehandedly win you games, while all the other cards directly counter Maxx C
