Notes & Combos

I played 34 games with a Lunalight deck in the March 2026 Duelist Cup. Here's the breakdown for this run:

  • Overall Win Rate: 79.41% (27 Wins - 7 Losses)
  • Win Rate Going 1st: 78.57% (11 Wins - 3 Losses)
  • Win Rate Going 2nd: 80.00% (16 Wins - 4 Losses)
  • Average Game Length: 2.15 Turns

Your game plan with this deck is straightforward: summon a Liger Dancer as quickly as possible, then another. Every game then becomes a game-within-a-game where you ask your opponent, 'Do you have an out for Liger Dancer?' Concede if the answer is 'yes.' In 34 games, not a single one of my opponents could out one Liger Dancer, much less two.

I went second in 20 out of my 34 games but had a similar win rate to my rate going first. Having access to Droplet and Heavy Poly helped me break boards on turn two. I also played Foolish Burial Goods and Serenade Dance to provide an extra push into opposing boards or act as an extender when going first.

I thought Fancy Ball and A Bao A Qu were great additions to the Extra Deck that added a new dimension of flexibility. You can Link into A Bao with Fancy Ball and one of your Fiend monsters (Nyarla or Dugares), then summon Fancy Ball from the Grave with A Bao on the opponent's turn. You'll get more insulation from monster effects for your Liger Dancers with Fancy Ball, or you can just destroy a card with A Bao.

My losses mostly came from messing up my own lines at the start of my run, getting hit with Droll mid-combo, or failing to open a play while going second with zero disruption. The fact that I saw no mirror matches during my run tells me Lunalight is a sleeper pick for this Duelist Cup.

  1. Vs. The Man—Heavy Poly played as a potential threat
  2. Vs. VS K9—Carried by double Liger Dancer. Prevented a possible out through Arc Rebellion
  3. Vs. Yummy—played through Herald of the Arc Light
  4. Vs. The Man—carried by Impulse
  5. Vs. Dragon Link—played through Droll and almost lost to the timer
  6. Vs. Vs K9—the most satisfying game I played demonstrating the utility of Serenade Dance
