Notes & Combos

I was very happy to finally achieve DLV Max during this duelist cup. To be as short as possible I am the definition of a YUGI Boomer. I watched the OG and a little bit of GX because of that amazing theme song. It is over the last year (on and off) playing MD that I learned how link, syncho, etc summoning works. Getting into YGO is not for the faint of heart. This has been very challenging and the reason I took breaks for months at a times because it would feel that my luck was so bad that the devs themselves must be working against me and it would tilt me. Once I started to play the TCG again I decided to commit to getting beat down until I got better. I think the trick with YGO is to not just learn your deck but to anticipate and counter what your oppoents deck is doing. I have always been a fire duelist. Even as a kid I have (Ultimate Baseball Kid was my fav as a kid) and will always run fire cards (or mostly). Hence my fire king deck!

This deck ran Branded Fusion to out Ash Blossoms and honestly, if I resolved that card and got Rindbrumm out it was almost always an auto win. If you are wondering why I run it at 1 is because i try and keep my TCG and MD deck as close to the same as possible (sorry I gotta run maxx C).

The big difference between my deck and the general Jurrac Fire king deck is that I did not run baby Kirin or Miscellaneosarus. The reason for that is because I lose the coin toss all the time and neither of those cards really help me when i am trying to disrupt their turn 1. But if I get at least an Adult Kirin and Megalo i got a bomb in turn 0. If you add High King Garunix to that first turn hand, going second is actually kinda heat. I still need to work on when to bomb my opponent. I lost certain matches that I could have won by waiting too late.

Hand trap Wise, I did not run any called because it didn't help me stop Maxx C anyways (somehow almost never had it when I needed it) so I had to get it up outta my deck anyway. Honestly, Imperm saved me a lot against Draco Tail and Odion. Either Lukias or the fusion monster gets imperm. Or the man with the mask gets the imperm. This with the decks natural disruption allowed me to match up well with the meta. Also Fire King Vs Mitsurugi while its not free it's a good match up for Fire King. I lost to White forest a decent amount of times. I still need to do better with that match up.
