Notes & Combos

I went through many interations on this deck but this was the list I settled on and even in the end I still don't like it. I ran more engine cards than I did in testing because the amount of times I would open unplayable was far too much for a BO1 format. I would have loved to cut a Lil-la and a Secret Password, but I just needed to see openers as much as possible... despite that I still found myself opening unplayable hands frequently. This deck does not benefit from the ease of access Runick Spright does and it shows.

Why Dark Ruler No More? I cut Ghost Belle early on to include DRNM because this deck can't go second hardly at all. My final two games were decided by DRNM -> Zeus. Otherwise you are praying that your opponent just lets you summon a bunch of materials to the point their two interactions can be beat over. It is interesting how many people just let you banish their monsters with Onibimaru and steal their Sprights with Dharc but I digress...

Iblee vs Scythe vs No Floodgate? Iblee only came up a handful of times. I only went for it when I could set up the Beat Cop protection on top of a Lil-la pop and Smashers. I would consider playing Scythe over Iblee because it can be accomplished with a one card combo in Twin Spright, but honestly I think the move might be to just play it without floodgates at this point with some good level two Gigantic targets like Swap Frog.

Pot of Prosperity? This card performed extremely well. Being able to dig for six practically guarantees you plays. Whether it be a missing level two for combo or a Dark Ruler No More or otherwise. I consider it a staple to the deck.

Cards That Underperformed

Iblee, Pixies, Gamma Burst, Djinn Buster, Mannequin Cat, Beat Cop, Veiler, Imperm

In hindsight I think a Twin Spright deck with fewer handtraps would work out better. It is terrible using these cards just for Spright to build a good board anyways and then having barely anything to fight back going second.
