Notes & Combos
I pulled the alt art Lord in the free pack they gave away for the anniversary, so I really wanted to try to climb with the Golden boi. Summon limit is a killer going 1st, but not that useful going 2nd. The reverse is true for sphere mode. There were a few games going 2nd where I would break their board with torrential or needle ceiling, and then flip summon limit to stop their follow up.
I'll be straight up, this deck does not do well vs Runick, we have a decent grind game but they have too many ways to protect or recycle the field spell. I got lucky and mostly ran into pure spright, mathmech and exosister, which I did very well against. If you have more pure runick or runick sprite matchups maybe swap the needle ceiling for dinomischus or judgement. I like dinomischus but this deck really hates to discard.
Going 2nd you either want sphere mode, or some combination of torrential/needle ceiling/there can only be one along with either solemn judgement or solemn strike.
Funnily there can only be one just immediately kills the spright board on it's own, if they don't randomly hit it with i:p unicorn during your turn, carrot can't stop it. I can't tell you how many times I flip tcobo, they chain carrot, carrot negates tcobo, but since its a continuous trap it's effect just immediately happens anyway.
The extra deck is mostly optional, just need targets for Dogmatica punishment and link 1 cards to send your trap monsters to the grave. The rail cannons are a way to otk if you have 2 copies of eldlich/lord/sphere mode. The luster soldier surprisingly came up a few times, there are a decent number of decks that have a hard time outing it, and it's a good way to get the golden lord back in the grave so he can be revived at 3500.
As far as my record, I was in diamond V trying different decks, and then I made a version of this deck that went on an 11 game win streak. I went 17-3 all the way to Diamond II, and then I had a bunch of games where I would win 1, lose2, win2, lose1, basically going 50-50, all the while making minor tweaks to the deck. I settled on this version and got a 5 game win streak to catapult me into Diamond I.
