40 cards

Notes & Combos

This deck can consistently beat pure Ryzeal and Maliss via Exodia going first or second, but loses to kaijus, handrip, deck milling or piercing battle damage.

To be immune to both battle and card effects, Crooked Cook must be the only card you control and be Xyz-summoned using either:

  • Right-Hand Shark and another level 4 WATER monster, or
  • Astral Kuriboh and any level 4 monster

Plays:

  • Astral Kuriboh and Ext Ryzeal can special summon themselves from the hand once per turn. Ext Ryzeal can send Mereologic Aggregator for its special summon in order to optionally negate an opponent's monster if applicable.
  • Engraver searches Tract, Tract searches Astral Kuriboh
  • Seventh Ascension searches Seventh Tachyon, Seventh Tachyon searches any of the level four water monsters by revealing Honor ARK or Ext Ryzeal by revealing Masquerade.
  • Dark Ruler No More and Metaltronus provide board disruption so that you can still make Cook when going second. Called By The Grave is for negating Ash on an important search.
  • Foolish Burial sends Right-Hand Shark which can special summon itself from the graveyard once per turn if you control no monsters.
  • Surfacing Big Jaws can special summon itself from the hand if you have activated a spell card during your turn and searches Right-Hand Shark.
  • Beautunaful Princess summons Buzzsaw Shark from the deck, and Buzzsaw Shark summons Right-Hand Shark from the deck.
  • Upstart Goblin is deck-thinning consistency and a free spell card activation for Surfacing Big Jaws.

Tips:

  • Right-Hand Shark only grants immunity to destruction by battle if all materials used for the Xyz summon are WATER, so there is one invalid combination in that Ext Ryzeal cannot be overlayed with Right-Hand Shark.
  • The Extra Deck core is 3x Crooked Cook, 1x Honor ARK and 1x Masquerade for Tachyon, Metaltronus targets, and flex space
  • Most hands will have several playable starters and extenders, so start by burning off any extra searches to bait Ash.
  • Always summon Cook in defense position in your rightmost main monster zone.
  • Cook is only unaffected by card effects while you control no other cards. This includes set cards and spell cards activated on the field. Once Cook is out, do not summon more monsters or set any cards, and do not activate spell cards from the hand. Resist the urge to activate an Upstart Goblin mid-game to speed up drawing Exodia!
